Curious George = Sinister?

Posted by Eric at 1:32 pm. Filed under: Randomly Interesting

Curious George books are apparently sinister, at least, according to some hypersensitive P.C.-police.

Roth, a high school English teacher in Los Angeles, writes on her animal rights Web site that “Curious George” reveals “the sinister side of a corrupt wildlife trade with perilous roots in Western imperialism.” When the mischievous George is sent to jail, “the picture of the forlorn little primate alone in his cell conjures haunting images of countless monkeys lingering in laboratories, suffering silently and alone.”

It’s a bit hard to believe this isn’t satire.

Would you rather hunt with Dick Cheney or ride with Ted Kennedy?

Glow in the Dark Combat Jackets

Posted by Eric at 9:42 am. Filed under: Randomly Interesting

Oops.

THE safety of Australian troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, including the elite SAS force, has been compromised by defective body armour, combat jackets and helmets, according to damning Defence Department documents.

The faults include combat jackets that glow in the dark, giving enemies an easy target, and body armour that cracks easily.
