Saddam’s Secrets - By Georges Sada
Georges Sada’s book, Saddam’s Secrets, is out.
Michelle Malkin links to a New York Sun article.
The man who served as the no. 2 official in Saddam Hussein’s air force says Iraq moved weapons of mass destruction into Syria before the war by loading the weapons into civilian aircraft in which the passenger seats were removed.
The Iraqi general, Georges Sada, makes the charges in a new book, “Saddam’s Secrets,” released this week. He detailed the transfers in an interview yesterday with The New York Sun.“There are weapons of mass destruction gone out from Iraq to Syria, and they must be found and returned to safe hands,” Mr. Sada said. “I am confident they were taken over.”
Mr. Sada’s comments come just more than a month after Israel’s top general during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Moshe Yaalon, told the Sun that Saddam “transferred the chemical agents from Iraq to Syria.”
Rick Moran has lots of analysis, and concludes with this:
While the information is certainly intriguing, it hardly qualifies as “smoking gun” evidence that Syria has the missing WMD.
That said, if the government were aware of Syrian collusion with Iraq to hide their stockpiles of WMD, why wouldn’t they announce it?
First of all, it would be very difficult to prove without revealing “sources and methods” that the CIA would rather remain a secret.
The second reason would be diplomatic. If we accused the Syrians and offered proof, then we would have to do something about it. This would complicate our efforts to effect regime change in Syria that right now are at a very delicate point. The UN is beginning to put more and more pressure on Baby Assad as the investigation into the assassination of Lebanese nationalist Rafiq Hariri continues to implicate high level Syrian intelligence and political figures. Eventually it is thought that the elites in the military and the government will see Assad as the dead weight that he is and get rid of him. After that, all bets are off and the US government may in fact start inquiring about what was transferred from Iraq to Syria prior to the war.
Next week, General Sada will meet with members of the Senate Armed Services committee. It should be interesting to see what might come out of that meeting although, don’t hold your breath for any bombshells. The last thing the White House wants at this point – even though it would permanently blunt some criticism about the war – is to make Syrian complicity in hiding Iraq WMD an issue.
Mac’s Mind thinks Senator Rockefeller is in trouble, going back to a November, 2005 interview he gave on FNS.
SEN. ROCKEFELLER: No. The — I mean, this question is asked a thousand times and I’ll be happy to answer it a thousand times. I took a trip by myself in January of 2002 to Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Syria, and I told each of the heads of state that it was my view that George Bush had already made up his mind to go to war against Iraq — that that was a predetermined set course which had taken shape shortly after 9/11.
John over at Powerline thinks a bit more evidence is needed.
Lorie Byrd, though, thinks it’s a whole lot more likely than the alternative: “For those leftie trolls who “LOL” at reports that point to Syria as the recipient of Saddam’s WMD, how is that scenario any less believable than the idea that Bush lied about WMD and invaded a country knowing that none would be found? Or, for that matter, how is it any more believable than the crazy conspiracy theories that Diebold elected Bush or that Karl Rove is coordinating with Osama? ”
Sister Toldjah reminds us that this lines up with what UNSCOM inspector Bill Tierney speculated.

Who is Georges Sada and why should we care?
The Sun goes into little detail to tell us who Sada is, or, more importantly, who he was. You might like to know a little more about Mr. Sada in order to establish his bonafides in your own minds.

Former Saddam General: WMDs Moved To Syria. Expect Media Silence
If you don’t already know, “Where did the WMDs go?”, is something I’m obsessed with. I haven’t been able to, and don’t think I ever will accept the “bad intel, they were never there” line. It just doesn’t make sense…

WMD’s in Syria? So says two Generals from two different countries, Iraq and Israel…can they both be wrong?
President Bush dithered prior to going to war with Iraq, wasting tremendous amounts of time with diplomacy. While he was wasting this time, Saddam was busy making plans for the defense of Iraq and the return of his regime. He also made plans for ……

I have an interview scheduled with General Sada for Wednesday morning from 8-9am with 1440 KEYS AM Radio in Corpus Christi, TX. I’ll ask him whther implicating syrria is a diplomatic landmine.
My own take is that Syrai has been in the mix from the beginning. The supposition was that Syria had accepted the WMDs. Now we have a confirmation.
I’ll ask him is he actually saw the wmds loaded.
Further, I’ll ask him if he supposes, as I do, that it wouldn’t be a far reach in thinking that Syria may have given WMD’s (whether those or others) to IRAN! Iran’s sudden nuclear saber rattling does make things appear as though they are WMD capable-NOW– not in the process of creating them.
I’ll let you know what he says. I’m browsing the net looking for what Americans think on the whole General Sada thing.

Here are a few things to consider. I’ll try to get the full interview on the net asap
About Sada:
1. he refused to join the Baathis party because he was not Arab or Muslim–even though it limited his career. It was a point of integrity to him. Refusal to join got lots of folks killed!
2. he risked death by speaking openly to Saddam’s face 17 times when it meant keeping Iraqi soldiers, civilians and even American pilots alive. Quasay had him imprisoned for not killing the 26 American pilots.
3. He opted to be removed from flying–which he loved and did since he was a kid– rather than to joing the baathis party. He went home and farmed. He had enough money to buy his own farming equipment from Europe– he ddn’t lack for money
4. He considers himself to be soldier of Iraq and not of Saddam
5. In order to peddle this book–as some have said– he has risked his life and the lives of ALL of his family. Terrorists are not confined to any one spot on the planet. he knows his family is a target cuz he is opting to speak.
6. His says he considers himself to be an ally of America and comes to us as a friend who wants to set the record straight and to buck us up so we can finish what we started in liberating Iraq– He’s doing this for his people.
See– so if he can have the courage to risk everything to speak– the least– the very least we can do is LISTEN– we don’t have to agree or even believe– but we should listen.
About WMDs:
he says that Saddam had commercial airplanes hollowed and ordered more than 55 flights filled with WMD materials into Syria. He also ordered a convoy of non-military 18 wheelers and even ambulances to carry more WMDs into Syria under the guise of rendering aid into a flooded area of Syria after the breaking of a dam. He says he has the account of the pilot who flew the sorties.
About Scott Spiecher:
General Sada was put in charge of the Gulf war POWs by Saddam. He was imprisoned for refusing an order from Saddam’s son, Qusay to execute the 26 American pilots they captured. They were spared but he was imprisoned for refusing the order.
He states that his own personal investigation has proven that those who alleged having seen Lt Col Spiecher lied about the events for monetary gain. He proved that the papers they claimed to have been his were forged and that they were unable to say where the crash has actually occured. His investigation sadly proved that the plane was directly hit by a missle and the chances of survival were impossible.
The ownership of the WMDS:
Since Saddam is no longer and power and he brokered the deal with Syria to have them hold the WMDs indefinitely, there is a question of ownership of the WMDs. he has written to the President of Syria appealing to him to hand over the WMD’s to the UN– He says the new Iraqi government does not want the WMDs.

Iraq’s WMD Secreted in Syria, Sada Says BY IRA STOLL
Mr. Sada said, “Saddam realized, this time, the Americans are coming and he handed over the weapons of mass destruction to the Syrians.”
So what was it that convinced Saddam that Uncle Sam was serious and coming this time?
