Weekend Caption Contest

Posted by Eric at 6:42 pm. Filed under: Politics

We posted this photo a couple of days ago, but it is worth doing as a caption contest. Maybe.

Anyway, have it in the comments!

Wal-Mart, Labor Unions Mix It Up. Jesus Ad Debuts.

Posted by Taste of Liberty at 9:53 am. Filed under: General

The left’s attack on Wal-Mart continues with the waning labor unions taking the lead for the moment.

In the spirit of the season, Jesus suddenly becomes fashionable. The labor unions have produced an ad saying that Jesus would not approve of Wal-Mart. Oh my. And the unions are doing this with a straight face.

I wonder how much money the labor unions funnel to groups like the ACLU trying to remove every vestige of Jesus from the marketplace?

Anyway here is the union position…

United Auto Workers (UAW) President Ron Gettelfinger said, “Wal-Mart cannot claim to be a socially responsible company simply because it is creating jobs. Not when the workers who fill those jobs are denied a free choice about whether or not to join a union, and when so many of them are forced to rely on public assistance because of the company’s low pay.”

United Auto Workers President… amazing! Has Mr. Gettelfinger looked at the state of the auto industry in America? His workers are turning out junk. And they are beginning to suffer the consequences.

And free choice??? A union president talking about free choice??? When was the last time a labor union allowed school teachers to opt out of the union? When was the last time that a labor union allowed members to withhold dues that were being used for political causes with which the union member disagreed? When was the last time the labor union went to bat for a government whistleblower who blew something that was contrary to the agenda of the left and was subsequently disparaged or discharged?

How many United Auto Workers are on the government dole Mr. Gettelfinger? How many will never get their jobs back because your guys make junk?

Conversely…

Wal-Mart spokeswoman Sarah Clark said in a statement late on Friday, “Surely many Americans are deeply offended that union leadership would use religion as just another tactic in the negative attack campaign against a company that donates more money to good works than any other company in America.”

Clark added that unions are facing the loss of thousands of jobs in the United States but were spending members’ dues on an ad attacking “a company that creates 100,000 jobs a year.”

And then the anti-Wal-Mart campaign spokesman invokes the golden rule; a left wing union lackey invoking the golden rule? Amazing. Ever been on the job when the shop steward tells you to slow down the work; that you’re doing the job too fast? Golden rule, eh? Free choice, eh?

Oh my.

“Where’ve You Been?”

If you keep your cell phone on, the government might know the answer to that question.

Dear Ford and GM,

Posted by Taste of Liberty at 9:01 am. Filed under: General

It’s about quality.

Over the years I’ve owned Ford and GM products. I’ve also owned the other guys’ vehicles from across the western waters. Hate to say it but I’ve done very little to the other guys’ vehicles in their journeys towards 200,000 miles.

On the other hand it seems your products have been plaqued by constant quality problems; transmissions, engine gaskets, windows that don’t work, computer malfunctions, just to name a few. Frankly I get tired of hassling with your service departments.

I love American cars and would love even more to buy them. However, I’ve reached the point where I won’t take a chance on your vehicles anymore. With prices reaching the obscene level, I need a vehicle that is reliable and will last. I spend a lot of time on the road. Dependablitiy is my number one concern. Second, to help you with your research, is the convenience of “living out of my car.” So the interior needs to be designed with that in mind.

I have concluded, a little tongue in cheek, that GM engineers must ride the bus. I’m not so sure they drive cars or ride in them much. Same for Ford.

So while you’re focusing on restructuring and job cuts and the mechanics of your organization, remember it is not the organization per se that is the issue. It’s quality. So whatever it takes, make ‘em top notch. You don’t need a million models. Make fewer and make ‘em the best. And don’t hype the quality if it isn’t there. We’re getting smarter than that.

With best wishes for a speedy recovery,

TOL
