University Bombs: Oklahoma U, Georgia Tech, UCLA

Posted by Eric at 5:10 pm. Filed under: General

Is it an odd coincidence that there have been explosive devices at three universities in the last few weeks?

First, Joel Hinrichs blew himself up at Oklahoma University. We were immediately told it was an isolated suicided, no terrorism here! As the investigation grew, it became obvious there was more involved.

Next, last Friday, the UCLA’s Daily Bruin reports that at 527 Midvale Ave, an explosive device was discovered.

And now, Georgia Tech. Michelle is looking for the MO, wondering if there is any pattern between the plastic bottles reportedly found in the trunk of Hinrich’s car and the plastic bottles used at Georgia Tech.

Looks like I’m not the only one wondering: Conservative Outpost, Donkey Stomp, Tapscott

Stop the Bleating says:

Anyone see a trend here? The fact that all the bombs have been relatively low-powered and unreliable would seem to suggest amateurs. It wouldn’t be the first time that weak-minded college students have become fascinated with radical, anti-American politics. And the bombs don’t have to work well in order to terrorize people.

Let’s just keep our fingers crossed and pray that, in the end, we find out that Michael Moore is behind this. Then at least there’d be a silver lining.

Ken at As I Please is rolling his eyes at the trend spotting.

Joel Hinrichs is a terrorist and the Georgia Tech “explosion” is part of the Great Ramadan offensive!

Of course, only Islamic fundamentalists know the deep, dark secrets to making bombs.

PAC From Miers Law Firm Big Democrat Contributor.

Posted by Taste of Liberty at 8:27 am. Filed under: General

Jerome Corsi at WorldNetDaily has been doing some digging.

Harriet Miers was apparently managing the law firm Locke Liddell when their political action committee made some rather curious contributions.

Federal Election Commission Reports show that on May 19, 2000, Locke Liddell’s PAC contributed $1,000 to Hillary Rodham Clinton’s Senate Campaign Committee. For an unexplained reason, Harriet Miers listed herself as a “self-employed attorney,” according to the FEC Report on her 1999 contribution to the Locke Liddell PAC.

There’s quite an interesting list in this Corsi article.

One has to be careful in jumping to conclusions based on these kinds of political donations. Given the many unknowns about Harriet Miers however, such activity is at least a curiosity.

Time will tell I suppose.

Michelle Malkin has some more on the controversy brewing around Miers as does PoliPundit.
There’s another article on Miers at the Weekly Standard here.
And Captain Ed continues his coverage here.
