Ronnie Earle Not So Clean?
Look at this… contribute to one of my favorite “causes” and I’ll drop charges against you.
Byron York, from National Review Online, has exposed the duplicity of Travis County, Texas prosecutor Ronnie Earle.
Ronnie Earle, the Texas prosecutor who has indicted associates of House Majority Leader Tom DeLay in an ongoing campaign-finance investigation, dropped felony charges against several corporations indicted in the probe in return for the corporations’ agreement to make five- and six-figure contributions to one of Earle’s pet causes.
Smacks of a shakedown at first blush.
But to compound the appearance of a politically motivated witch hunt, Byron York has revealed that Democrat prosecutor Earle has participated in the making of a movie about the case, all before anything has been heard. Is this trying to influence the public and rig the jury? When you combine the rapid appearance of computer generated calls blanketing the nation by the Democrat Party in an attempt to milk this indictment one has to wonder. Is there some collusion between Earle and the Democrat Party? Will there be an investigation into that possibility? Will the press dig around to find out ? We won’t hold our breath.
If law enforcement agencies are allowed to use the power of their offices for political persecution then the country is in serious trouble. Can gulags be very far around the corner?
Let’s see… Travis County… ring a bell? Dan Rather and forged documents anyone?
If it looks like a rat and smells like a rat….
