Who to Blame for Hurricane Rita…

Posted by Eric at 10:42 am. Filed under: General

Smoke on the Water, blogging from his sailboat in Galveston Bay, knows exactly who to blame.

The fault that my boat has nowhere to go to safety, is not George Bush’s fault. The fault that her refit founders far from completion is not FEMA’s fault.

Da** my luck being a Constitutionalist. Elsewise, I could blame this whole damn mess on the present eeeeeevvvill administration. [tinfoil hat, on] Actually, I blame Rita on New Orleans Mayor Nagin and Louisiana Governor Blanco. Da** permissive liberals, showing these storms they could misbehave with no limits or discipline! [/ tinfoil hat, off ]. Hey, if the screaming moonbats of the left can postulate all maner of insanity in their knowledgeless accusations of failiure of President Bush and his administration, I can go just as far off to assign blame to the liberal, permissive left, can’t I? (eeeevil Vast Right Wing Consipiracy chortle n’ grin)

(HT: MM)

Harry Reid, is still playing the blame game too …

“It’s nice to have the Bush administration recognize the importance of a federal response to Rita, but why weren’t they proactively mobilizing and organizing like this for Katrina?”

… while Kerry eats squid.

Storm Track has the latest in maps and analysis.

UPDATE: Pardon My English has a toungue in cheek discussion about whether this storm will be racist. Lord Spatula and others have shown the pictures of the school buses leaving Houston, and compared it to the inaction in New Orleans. While this is obviously a striking comparison, it strikes me that it may be a bit disingenous, as Texas now has the hindsight of what happened from Katrina. It may well be that Texas was previously more prepared, less corrupt in the administration, etc, but these two pictures do not prove that. This will be same argument that I will make against those who scream racism about the fact that there is a rapid response coming to Rita hitting (the presumably whiter areas of Texas) and not to Katrina (which hit the largely black city of New Orleans).
