Woman Wakes From 20 Year Coma; Heard All.

Posted by Taste of Liberty at 8:41 am. Filed under: General

This is an amazing story. It sheds more light on the awareness of folks in a comatose state. And makes you really think about life in any capacity.

From CBSnews.com

However, it seems that throughout her 20-year coma, she could see, hear, and understand what was going on around her. Shortly after she awoke, her father asked what she knew about events that had occurred years earlier.

Think about this in the context of Susan Torres and Terri Schiavo.

UPDATE [MZ]: Danny Carlton is sickened by CBS’ selective amnesia.

Susan Torres and Terri Schiavo

Posted by Taste of Liberty at 8:25 am. Filed under: General

The contrast between these two situations couldn’t be more glaring.

On the one hand we have Susan Torres who developed cancer and subsequently had
further brain damage which necessitated additional medical efforts to prolong her life. On the other hand we have Terri Schiavo whose brain damaged condition was the result of rather suspicious circumstances and who only needed rehabilitation and some food and water to continue living.

On the one hand we have a husband who left his job to support his wife, Susan Torres and be by her side during this difficult time, cheering her on in so many ways, to sustain the life of their child. On the other hand we had a husband (supported by a whole cadre of legal “professionals”) who sought to deny his wife, Terri Schiavo, rehabilitative treatment and sought to end her life.

On the one hand we see the family of Susan Torres receiving large sums of money donated to help with the onerous medical costs which they use for that purpose. On the other we saw the husband of Terri Schiavo who, after receiving large sums of money in a legal settlement intended for the medical care of his wife, seek to deny her rehabilitative treatment and starve her to death, not even allowing a drop of water to be put on her dry, cracking lips and tongue.

On the one hand we see a family surrounding Susan Torres and her unborn child with support, encouragement, and untold sacrifices; the cheerleaders in very, very difficult circumstances. On the other hand we see the family of Terri Schiavo, the Schindlers, willing to take care of their daughter, cheering her on whatever the cost and sacrifice while at the same time witnessing the husband of Terri Schiavo and the ever present cadre of legal “professionals” blocking all efforts to do so with the rather strange goal, it seems, of wanting her dead.

On the one hand we have the family of Susan Torres doing whatever it takes to save a life. On the other hand we have the family of Terri Schiavo, the Schindlers, who wanted to do whatever it takes to save a life, but a husband who wanted to do otherwise.

On the one hand we have the family of Susan Torres willing to support life regardless of the so-called health and impairment risks. On the other hand we have the husband of Terri Schiavo who, not only rejected that sacrifice, along with the care and loving effort of the Schindlers, but, with his cadre of legal “professionals”, campaigned against it.

Thank you to the family of Susan Torres for being an example to us all. And thank you to the parents of Terri Schiavo who did all they could in setting for us another wonderful example. The love of the parents for their children cannot be denied. Your sacrifices are a great testimony to your faith in Jesus Christ and to the character which that faith demonstrates. The world sees and it knows even if the media might cause you to think otherwise.
