Your Life is At Risk With John Roberts
Despite what it may look like, this is not parody.
Brodeur:
The makeup of the high court means different things to people. But to women, well, it can mean our very lives. If we have an unexpected pregnancy, we can have a safe and legal abortion.
How about:
The makeup of the high court means different things to people. But to unborn women who have not yet taken a breath, well, it can mean our very lives. If their mothers have an unexpected pregnancy, they can no longer legally have their brains sucked out.
Brodeur:
Roberts could very well serve as a one-man cavalry, who could help bring down a woman’s right to her own body.
Maybe better:
Roberts could very well serve as a deciding vote, who could help restore an unborn woman’s right to her own body.
Brodeur:
If I sound like Chicken Little, it’s not because our sky is falling; it’s that our horizons aren’t as wide as they once were.
In announcing Roberts’ nomination, Bush noted that the judge has “a profound respect for the liberties guaranteed to every citizen.”
Every citizen.
It is interesting that Nicole Brodeur chose to emphasize the word “every” in the “every citizen” quote. It’s too bad Bush didn’t choose to use the word “person” instead of “citizen” because it’s a key to Ms. Brodeur’s point. You’re not a citizen until you take a breath.
