Bill Clinton Complains About Liberal Media Bias

Posted by Eric at 3:16 pm. Filed under: General

This is a great quote from Bill Clinton.

“So for example, if you’re a Democrat and you have sort of normal impulses, you’re a sellout, like when Hillary said abortion is a tragedy for virtually everybody who undergoes it, we ought to do all we can to reduce abortion,” Clinton said.

“All of a sudden,” he continued, the media began asking, “‘Is she selling out? Is she abandoning her principles?’ But if John McCain, who’s pro-life, works with Hillary on global warming, he’s a man of principle moving to the middle.”

“It’s nuts,” the former president said.

The legacy media panics and reacts negatively when anyone moves right (e.g. Hillary trying to [pretentiously] position herself more conservatively on abortion), but adulation and praise is heaped on those moving left, er “middle,” (e.g. the example Clinton cited about McCain).

And Bill Clinton complains about it. Go figure. I never thought I would see the day when Bill Clinton complained of liberal media bias.

As a side note, his paraphrase of Hillary’s quote was not quite accurate. She didn’t say “virtual everybody,” rather she said:

I believe we can all recognize that abortion in many ways represents a sad, even tragic choice to many, many women. Often, it’s a failure of our system of education, health care, and preventive services. It’s often a result of family dynamics. This decision is a profound and complicated one; a difficult one, often the most difficult that a woman will ever make. The fact is that the best way to reduce the number of abortions is to reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies in the first place.
