Jesse Jackson’s Timing in Schiavo Case
As Drudge, the AP and others headline things like “Jesse Jackson to the Rescue,” one has to wonder about his timing.
Why would he come now?
It seems that doctors indicate that her organs are failing and even a reinsertion at this point may not save her. If he cares so much, why did he not step up earlier?
I have to admit, I’m skeptical of his motives with regard to the timing. I’m glad he is standing for Terri here, but a bit earlier would have been more effective in saving her life (possibly by swaying some votes in the Floriday legislature, as Sen. Daniel Webster noted), even if not as effective from a PR standpoint for Mr. Jackson himself.
Am I the only one wondering?

I agree. Why the big change of heart now? One has to wonder if there are ulterior motives.

No, you are not alone. I thought the same exact thing. Thankful for him stepping in, but his timing (like Ralph Nader, and one orgranization) seems to be a little late in coming, if sincere. I have no doubt they are playing “the big save.” But yes, I agree we can be thankful if it brings about a positive result in the end.

After listening to Jesse Jackson and his comments in various interviews and pressers he keeps repeating the ‘healthcare for all’ mantra. This is dutifully affirmed by the various heads interviewing him. I suspect this is the reason… and I’m wondering if a calculated reason and maybe even a coordinated reason even though it is reported he was invited (has anyone verified that from the Schindlers?)… that he is entering the fray at this late hour. After all if he really believed what he said, then he wouldn’t need to be invited and he wouldn’t have waited until this late in the saga. He’s had a good three weeks to intervene.
While I think Jackson’s words are laudible, I have to be skeptical of his motives given his leftist track record. I have to also ask why is he shifting the issue? This has nothing to do with the ’system’ not providing healthcare. It is about Michael Schiavo preventing healthcare and rehabilitation and the ’system’ killing an innocent, viable human being whose parents are willing to provide loving care.
