Howard Dean: Republicans are Brain Dead
From the Toronto Star:
One major reason his party lost the 2004 race to the “brain-dead” Republicans is that it has a “tendency to explain every issue in half an hour of detail,” Dean told the semi-annual meeting of Democrats Abroad, which brought about 150 members from Canada and 30 other countries to the Toronto for two days.
“I’m going to be very disciplined about how we deliver messages. We can have policy deliberations in rooms like this. On TV, we have to be very focused.”
Calling a group of people brain dead, saying you hate them and everything they stand for, is quite a disciplined strategery. I’m duly impressed.
On another note, I can’t help but wonder if Howard Dean is trying to make some sort of Terri Schiavo connection through that comment. If so, what is the point he is trying to convey, subtly or not? On second thought, there’s not much in the way of subtle nuance about Howard Dean, so scratch that.
Mr. Paw says:
So, I figured it out!!
Well, actually it was Howard Dean that figured everything out. The reason that the Democrats have lost hold in so many areas in recent years is due to the fact that they talk too much without saying anything. Republicans, however, tend to say alot in a short amount of time.
More from Darleen, on Dean, the gift that keeps on giving. Woody continues to be excited about Dean’s role. Paul thinks this is all part of the genius that is called Rove. Let it Bleed has more thoughts (and a great blog tag line), and Say Anything makes this observation:
One sure way to remain the minority party in America is to call the politicians most people voted for in the last election “brain dead.”

And Republicans have NEVER said that about Democrats?
At this point, neither side has the credibility to ever say such things about the other side.
[MZ adds: I’m not sure that I recall the leader of the RNC ever saying he hates Democrats and calling them brain-dead, or anything even comparably insulting. But that’s not to say it has never happened, I’m open to examples.]
