I’ll be enjoying a long weekend of R&R so won’t be online until Monday. Until then, find some other obscure blog to read (someone told me about a little blog called Instapundit … whatever).
Or check out Taste of Liberty’s post here.
Clearly the most significant domestic issue facing America today is the judiciary.
Happy weekend everyone!

Wired:
What can a victim of click fraud do? One solution bandied about at the conference seemed simple enough. Contest the charges on your credit card as fraudulent. If enough merchants did it, they could enlist powerful allies: American Express, Visa and MasterCard, who would likely pressure the other search engines to do something about it.

Remember this story from last week about cat season in Wisconsin?
Well, the cats are fighting back.
A man cooking in his kitchen was shot after one of his cats knocked his 9mm handgun onto the floor, discharging the weapon, Michigan State Police said.
Joseph Stanton, 29, of Bates Township in Iron County, was shot in his lower torso around 6 p.m. Tuesday, the state police post in Iron River reported. He was transported to Iron County Community Hospital.

Last year I generously donated $5 to the RNC. It got me on their mailing list.
But because I have not sent any money in yet this year, check out the letter I got. Whoever the market research firm is that put this letter together, they ought to be fired on the spot.
I don’t want to believe you’ve abandoned the Republican party, but I have to ask … Have you given up?
Our records show we have not received your 2005 Republican Nationall Committee membership contribution.
…
I am surprised and concerned because I know how generously you have helped in the past …
[I know you’re busy, and it’s been two months…]
But we’ve not heard from you this year — and I hope you haven’t abandoned the Party.
Huh?
Anyway, check it out for yourself.

UPDATE (3/27/05): What was Judge Greer’s motive? This post has a discussion. And for a complete cast of characters, and the tangled web of potential conflict of interest, click here.
Florida Cracker has an interesting observation.
It looks like the Department of Children and Families is going to give Judge Greer enough rope to hang himself with. He’ll be ruling on whether they can intervene in the Terri Schiavo case. If he rules yes, they’ll have a two-month long investigation and who knows what will turn up. If he rules no, they can take her into protective custody.
And Cao has more.
Also, check out Taste of Liberty’s thoughts on the Schiavo case here.

James Taranto’s Soderberg comments continue to stir readers.
He quotes from a reader, Joel Engel, who says:
As for Soderberg, she was answering serious questions–even those asked in a tone of bemused irony–seriously. After all, she’d come on the air to promote not a book of Rodney Dangerfield’s best one-liners, but a serious-minded critique of the Bush team. Her great misfortune is that it was written, thanks to the long lead time publishing requires, long before the news turned unrelentingly good. So she now has to distance herself from her book’s title, thesis and text. A smart woman, she no doubt had to recognize that her opening remark about the administration’s finding that it’s harder than they thought to bend the world “to their will” was a complete non sequitur, given the events of the day. It’s a terrible thing, apparently, to consider yourself a member of the intellectual elite driven to effete obsolescence by a cowboy. Worse, though, is to believe that you’re going to have a bestseller after being a featured segment on “60 Minutes,” but instead current events have consigned you to six uncomfortable minutes on the conflicted Jon Stewart show. Hence: There’s always Iran and North Korea.
He also quotes someone ripping him apart as a liar.
And concludes with:
One could no doubt also find examples of Republicans rooting for bad things to happen when Democrats were in power. We’re all human, after all.

Here they are.
e.g, #’s 4 and 5.
No matter how great you are, your career depends on communicating. The way to get better at anything, including communication, is by practicing. Blogging is good practice.
Bloggers are better-informed than non-bloggers. Knowing more is a career advantage.

Dan Rather’s signing off is a bittersweet moment for us here at Myopic Zeal. It was, after all, our fault that he ran with the story of those fake documents in the first place. And yet, the publicity that the internal report brought to this little blog as a result of attributing his downfall to us has been greatly appreciated by our marketing department.

This is not a joke:
Alton attorney Emert Wyss thought he could make money in a Madison County class action lawsuit, but he accidentally sued himself instead. Now he has four law firms after his money - and he hired all four.

N.Z. Bear has a brilliant idea about this whole idea of the FEC holding both the blogger and the campaign responsible for links.
Where Ed sees stupidity, I see opportunity! It’s rare that such a fine chance for amusing civil disobedience comes along.
Unless I’m missing something (entirely posssible), current campaign finance rules would hold the offending blogger responsible for giving a “contribution” with their dirty, dirty link — but they would also hold the campaign linked to responsible, regardless of whether the campaign wanted the link or not.
Catching on yet? It’s easy, and fun, too! Simply pick the least desirable candidate whose sheer presence on our fair planet offends you, and link, link, link to their site!
And No Illusions thinks the first “target” should be McCain!!!
