Brain-dead but Smiling?

Posted by Eric at 8:58 am. Filed under: General

The Trentonian has an article today that leads in with this statement, as if it were objective reporting.

Terri Schiavo, the brain-dead but smiling woman at the center of America’s debate about euthanasia…

Brain-dead but smiling? What in the world does that mean?

And later in the story, shrouded with doubt by the word “insisted” we read:

While court-ordered doctors have labeled Terri Schiavo permanently vegetative, Schindler [Terri’s brother] insisted he had spoken to speech therapists and doctors who attested to the contrary.

If these editors have not watched the videos, they should. If they have and still write this stuff, shame on them.

In related news, the NRLC is calling on Congress to act.

Representative Dave Weldon of Maryland has announced that he will introduce the Incapacitated Person’s Legal Protection Act on Tuesday, March 8, 2005.
