Jesse Jackson, or Michael Barone?

Posted by Eric at 1:36 pm. Filed under: General

Jesse Jackson has been credited with writing this op-ed in the Chicago Sun-Times: Partial Recounts a Totally Bad Idea. Oddly enough, it seems to be quite the same as this piece in Town Hall by Michael Barone entiteld 2000 Changed Everything.

OTB wonders who is more chagrined, Jackson or Barone? Via Wizbang.

Hah.

Loretta Sanchez Questions Rumsfeld

Posted by Eric at 11:10 am. Filed under: General

Check out the exchange that the Stanford Review excerpts from the Washington Post.

SANCHEZ: I have Petraeus’ numbers. They’re different than your numbers, by the way.

RUMSFELD: Well, what’s the date? They aren’t different because these came from Petraeus. He may have two sets of numbers, but they are not different if the date’s the same.

The date on my paper here is February 14th. What’s yours?

SANCHEZ: December 20th.

RUMSFELD: Not surprising there’s a difference.

Hillary Wants Lynne Stewart’s Vote!

Posted by Eric at 10:56 am. Filed under: General

According to the AP, Hillary Clinton “pushed for legislation that would allow all ex-felons to vote. ” (Taranto points out that there is no such thing as an ex-felon).

Presumably she is hoping that Lynne Stewart, a registered Democrat, would be able to vote by 2008.

Posted by Eric at 10:41 am. Filed under: General

Instapundit is fueling the Condi ‘08 speculation fire today.

Check out:

Condi for Prez (which, a bit ironically, spells the name of the directory wrong)
Dr. Condoleezza Rice for President in 2008
Draft Condi Rice (some funny stuff here)
Condi for President 2008
Citizens for Condi

Oh, I just got this far and found Blogs for Condi which has a whole blogroll…. so just go there and check it out.

And here are some books on “>Condoleeza Rice.

David Fitzsimmons on Homeschooling

Posted by Eric at 8:41 am. Filed under: General

David Fitzsimmons (phone: 520.573.4234 fax: 520.573.4141) of the Arizona Daily Star, has published the following editorial cartoon.

Homeschoolers Abuse Children

Kirkcentric, rather than getting upset, fights back with a cartoon of his own. Check it out.

Natalie West Criss, of Natalie’s Nexus, has written an open letter to the Editor. Check out the whole thing on her blog. (By the way, Natalie is the husband of Jack Criss, author of Ready, Aim, Right!)

LaShawn Barber has an interesting post today encouraging parents to take their kids out of the government schools.

This is why I strongly encourage people who care more about their children’s education and less about charges of “racism” and what others think to take their kids out of government schools now.

Do what you have to do. Sacrifice whatever it takes to send your kids to private schools or homeschool them yourself. You cannot win in this scenario. Government has been exercising and abusing its raw power since forced integration was codified into law 40 years ago.

Dawn Eden Needs a Job

Posted by Eric at 8:04 am. Filed under: General

If you haven’t been following the saga of Dawn Eden’s firing from the NY Post, hop over to The Dawn Patrol and check it out. You can her posts on the subject here, here, here, here, here and here.

She’s officially looking for work, and I read her blog pretty regularly, so wanted to send a reader or two her way.

In case you hear of a job that might be right for me, I’m looking for a mid-level one that would draw on my expertise as an editor, copy editor, and writer. I’d consider a media company or a nonprofit; before I was at the New York Post, I worked as an editor for nonprofits such as the Jewish Book Council and the College Board. Until the right full-time position comes along, I’m available for freelance copyediting and writing—just last week, I had an op-ed in National Review Online. And while New York City’s my preferred locale, I’d be open to relocating anywhere I wouldn’t have to drive—especially Washington, D.C.
