Is SpongeBob Gay?

Posted by Eric at 4:20 pm. Filed under: General

From a NYPost story.

On one hand:

But conservative groups insist the film cunningly seeks to coerce children to embrace homosexuality.

They tie their claim to a “tolerance pledge” on the foundation’s Web site that includes “having respect for people whose . . . sexual identity or other characteristics are different from my own.”

Focus on the Family, a conservative group, issued a statement yesterday saying, “By calling to light this video and its affiliation with this larger organization . . . we’re connecting the dots.”

On the other:

“How crazy have we all become in questioning the sexuality of cartoon characters as if they’re real people. Get a grip!” Van Capelle said.

“If SpongeBob is a gay icon, someone needs to tell Barbra Streisand,” he said. “If he’s a gay icon, I should know about it.”

Michelle Malkin says:

I gave the traditional values folks props for the Kid Rock crusade, but the anti-SquarePants thing is nuts.

And Bill Cork says… well, he says a whole buncha stuff. You can read it yourself.

The VW Ad.

Posted by Eric at 4:08 pm. Filed under: General

Click here to watch the ad that’s got everyone all ruffled today.

Wizbang reports it’s a hoax.

Apparently, it was a spoof by Lee and Dan that got out “accidentally.”

“The ad got out accidentally and has spread like wildfire. It wasn’t meant for public consumption. “We think the spot reflects what people see in the news everyday, and in this instance the car is the hero that protects innocent people from someone with very bad intentions. We’re sorry if the ad has caused any offence.”

Update here (1/24).

Wow. Better check the name trends before we pick out the next one…

This poor coach has a starting line up of five girls on her basketball team all named some variation of Caitlin.

Hat tip: April Wood of Teach With Toys.

Hollywood on Inaugural Cost

Clever.

Hollywood liberals could not be reached for comment on the cost of the inauguration because they were being fitted for gowns and jewelry worth millions of dollars in anticipation of Oscar night.
